Mavondo Family

Here is a shot from last year which slipped through the cracks. Pretty cool I think. Well done Cath!

Sophie & Peter

We had an amazing time with Sophie and Peter yesterday afternoon. We headed down to Coolangatta through an hour of driving rain, and arrived just in time for the rain to stop. Sophie and Peter arrived and dived headlong into photos… man these guys are in love! From the first embrace, the first kiss, we could tell there was something amazing about their relationship.

The way they played together, I got the feeling they did not just love each other… they really liked each other and every minute together.

Here is one quick edit of Caths with the sunset.

New Front Window Displays….

Our front windows are featuring three new posters, each with a trio of images, from some lovely family portraits recently taken by Cath…. don’t forget to honk a hello when you go past!

Or drop in for coffee.

Portrait Books

We have been producing some absolutely gorgeous portrait books lately. Our books are printed on fine art paper, feature stiff board pages for supreme archival longevity, and are bound by hand by our extremely talented and experienced bookbinder. This is why we can give them a lifetime gaurentee.

Here are some lovely pages from the Brown-Browning Family…

Kim & Matt

After traveling around the romantic cities of Europe, Kim & Matt returned home to Australia, for Matt to propose to Kim on the Manly headland in Sydney. Now I imagine Matt may have copped a bit of flack for his timing, but I think he made the right decision. I mean why propose in Paris atop the Tower Eiffel, when you can propose overlooking the beaches of Manly. OK I might be a little biased as I am an avid Manly rugby league fan, but seriously how much more romantic can you get? Only a counter meal at the Brookvale Tavern would have topped it off! Save it for the anniversary hey Guys?

Kim & Matt live in Sydney so I took the opportunity to head down to:

A. Photograph Kim & Matt for their pre-wedding portrait.

B. See Manly play at Brookvale.

C. Visit the Sydney Biennale Art Show.

Here are some of the shots from their session…

Jess

We had the pleasure of hosting Jess from Sheldon College recently, as part of her School Work Experience Placement. She got to experience the photographic industry from both sides of the camera.

Zoe

We had a great time with the gorgeous Zoe last Thursday.

She was a natural model, and looked simply stunning.

Thanks to her Mum Renae for helping us with the lighting, she was a great sport with the reflector. Here are a few first edits… with many more to come.

Stephen

Check out these great shots from our shoot with Stevo yesterday.

Ahh Melbourne!

You Melbourne photographers are blessed to have so much great architecture, I hope I never hear you complain about not having any photography locations. This shot of Prue & James was taken at the GPO on Burke St, but could be Turino (Turin) Italy.

Melbourne Part 1 – Sophie & Sam

Cath & I believe having your portrait taken by your wedding photographer before the actual wedding day is so valuable. Apart from having a beautiful set of images which capture our clients love and lifestyle, it’s a great way to get to know each other better, and for our clients to get an insight into what it’s like at the pointy end of the camera.

We realised we had a few client’s currently living in Melbourne, and decided to get out of Brisbane for a change of scenery, and capture their Melbourne life experiences.

So on the weekend we headed to Melbourne with three portrait shoots, and loads of ideas. Whilst Sophie & Sam were the last shoot we did, they are the first image we’d like to show you all. An absolutely gorgeous young couple, they were so lovely even though we made them veeery late to their dinner engagement… blame the photographers (and daylight saving)!! Think of St Kilda and this would not be the image you would think of, but it captures them perfectly… the stance, the look, they are so sweet. Well done Cath, great image!

Melbourne Part 2 – Prue & James

Walking around Melbourne we found some awesome spots for photography. The place is teeming with possibilities.

We dragged Prue & James through dank and dirty alleyways (how romantic!), Italianesque (my word) gallerias, and rundown historic buildings. We discovered a lot about this attractive couple as we went from location to location. One thing is for sure, James is a card, and Prue loves his cheeky ways.

We will post some more shots which truly reveal their character, but for now I want to post this shot, if only to prove to Prue & James we are not insane, and this building is fantastic. What do you think? Please comment and tell me I’m right. I’d have this on my wall in a heartbeat.

Melbourne Part 3 – Caroline & Anthony

In the heat of a very hot Melbourne afternoon, about 36 degrees, we met up with Caroline and Anthony at a lovely park called Edinburgh Gardens, not far from where they live. After some shots in an historic old grandstand, once the home of the Fitzroy Lions, we headed to the Carlton Gardens. The Exhibition building and the classic ornate fountain were too hard to resist as a romantic backdrop.

After the final of the Australian Open on Sunday night, Anthony emailed us a shot of the Australian Open winner, Novak Djokovic, kissing his winning cup in the very same spot… we had a great laugh at Anthony’s comment that he thought they were more passionate! I had to include two shots from Caroline & Anthony’s shoot to show the fountain shot.

We know every wedding photographer in Melbourne would have taken this shot at least once in their career, but for Caroline & Anthony it might just represent their time in Melbourne, and a very special time in their lives as they lead up to their wedding in Brisbane. Thanks guys, it was great fun.

Circle of Life Project – Launch Party

At Vivid we have been working on a concept over the last couple of years which more encapsulates what we do, and helps the public understand the importance of booking a professional photographer. Also, we have a large family of present and past clients, and we wanted a space where everyone could get an insight into each others lives through the photography we create. The last couple of months have been hectic as we have been putting the finishing touches on the concept, but we are finally ready to share our concept. It is called the Circle of Life Project, and we are very excited about showing it to you all.  To launch the site, you can register for your chance to win one of 5 $1500 vouchers, which can be used towards photography at Vivid in the following areas: Wedding, Baby/Children, Family, Young Adult, Celebration. Once you have registered fill out the RSVP to attend our exciting launch party on Thursday November 10 @ 6pm-9pm. This will be held at our Vivid Photography Studio at Kangaroo Point. Please note – RSVP essential.
