Allie & Heath’s Wonderful Album

Last year we photographed the wedding of two very nice people down Currumbin way. They are Allie & Heath, their wedding photography was on the beach, and they experienced a natural exhibition like no other!

Mother nature at her best.

Here are a few of their wedding album page designs for you to enjoy…

Two Lovers, One Future

Here is a little Friday afternoon fun with yet another tribute to pop culture. This time we are paying homage one of our favourite films Inception. This is another great shot taken by Rich on their recent trip down to Melbourne to photograph the lovely Prue + James. Check out Rich’s blog post here to read about Prue + James’ portrait session in Melbourne.

This adds to our other pop culture tribute for The Paterson’s where we created a rock and roll album cover for them inspired by their trip to the UK where they crossed the famous Abbey Road crossing.

Circle of Life Project – Launch Party

At Vivid we have been working on a concept over the last couple of years which more encapsulates what we do, and helps the public understand the importance of booking a professional photographer. Also, we have a large family of present and past clients, and we wanted a space where everyone could get an insight into each others lives through the photography we create. The last couple of months have been hectic as we have been putting the finishing touches on the concept, but we are finally ready to share our concept. It is called the Circle of Life Project, and we are very excited about showing it to you all.  To launch the site, you can register for your chance to win one of 5 $1500 vouchers, which can be used towards photography at Vivid in the following areas: Wedding, Baby/Children, Family, Young Adult, Celebration. Once you have registered fill out the RSVP to attend our exciting launch party on Thursday November 10 @ 6pm-9pm. This will be held at our Vivid Photography Studio at Kangaroo Point. Please note – RSVP essential.

Meischa & Symeon

These Guys really were one of our favorite clients, and we had a great time on the wedding day. Unfortunately for some reason we never got to blog their wedding last year. We are rectifying this terrible oversight by showing some of the designs from their wedding album. It was amazing and featured some really funky designs. Note to photographers… we love you but try not to copy too many of these.

Some cool page designs from C&J’s Wedding Album…

A new member of Team Vivid

Tyler Alberti is our new wiz in the engine room at Vivid (where we know where all the hard work is done). As a 21 year old graduate of QUT with Bachelor Creative Industries – Communication Design, and an emerging member of the AIPP, he is a talented boy. Expect to see him make waves in the photographic industry in the future. We took this image whilst presenting a workshop to the students of MSIT last month.

WPPI Las Vegas

I am posting from Las Vegas, where 15,000 people have gathered for the annual Wedding & Portrait Photographers International conference. I’m here with a great bunch of talented photographers from Brisbane, Melbourne, and Canberra. Most of the time is spent listening to some of the best photographers in the world talk about their work and inspirations. I just finished a session with Jennifer Hudson, who talked about creating fine art for her clients. Her work, her philosophy, is so well conceived and inspirational. View her work here: http://www.jenniferhudsonfineart.com/

Here is a shot I snapped from the taxi window yesterday I kinda like.

Also yesterday we had an exciting day. It’s not every day you get to go to a Las Vegas wedding, and yesterday I was honoured to be part of Todd & Alyda’s vow renewal. Yes there was the cheesy chapel, and yes there were tuxedo T shirts for sale, and of course there was Elvis. What we did not expect, was how touching and beautiful the ceremony was. OK maybe not the ceremony but certainly the vows they made to each other. Each of the words they said to each other summed up not just their own personalities, but what they mean to each other. Special. Here are a couple of images I snapped.

The Practice & Art of Photography Workshops

For a while now Cath & I have been considering the idea of doing workshops for serious amateur photographers interested in taking their skills to a more professional level, but who do not want to commit to months or even years of study. After being approached by some keen photographers a few months ago, we decided to put together a comprehensive and creative 2 day course which gives attendees a good overview of the practice and art of being a professional photographer. Our first workshop was held two weeks ago and was a huge success, with everyone keen to join the next workshop we schedule. You can jump online and check out the course outline as well as some of the comments from the attendees and a couple of the images we created. For more info, check out the workshop section of our website. We will have new dates for the next workshop to be announced later this week.
